How should we care for our container fig tree? We live at 8,000 feet elevation. We had it outside during summer and fall, but now that winter is upon us, we're not sure where to put it (garage, inside house, outside etc.). If we should keep it outside, do we cover it? Inside our house, we have many exposures - direct sun, partial sun, shade.

Figs can sometimes sustain temperatures to 15 degrees F outside, but container plants are more tender. Container figs that are moved into sheltered locations for the winter often have small crops, although in your cold winters that would seem to be the best bet. Place the tree in as sunny a location as possible, but away from cold drafts from windows or dry heat from radiators.
