Mandevilla does best in full sun with very fertile, moist but well drained soil. To keep plants attractive, remove faded flowers regularly, and pinch fastest-growing shoots every month or so. Mandevilla is cold hardy to about 25F, in areas where the winters are colder than that Mandevilla should be potted up in late fall and brought indoors. Mandevilla usually won't bloom indoors though unless it is in a spot like a solarium. Plant in a porous, fast-draining soil mix, such as one with equal parts peat moss, commercial potting mix, and perlite or pumice. Fertilize with a controlled-release fertilizer following label directions. |
