| Pyracantha, also called firethorn, is a fast and vigorous grower with glossy green leaves and small clusters of creamy white flowers which develop into bright orange-red berries in late summer. The plants are evergreen and rarely need pruning. Pyracantha thrives in full sun, in average to poor soils, and once established will not need to be watered except during the hottest, driest months of the year. Pyracantha makes a thick and impenetrable hedge and is often used as an attractive privacy screen. |
