How often/much should our citrus trees be watered during January and February. The 15 gallon trees were planted September 2001. |
There is an excellent chapter on citrus care, including charts for watering and fertilizing, in a recently published book called Desert Landscaping for Beginners, ISBN 0-9651987-3-1, from Arizona Master Gardener Press. The book recommends that trees from 15-gallon containers should be watered to a depth of 20 inches for the first year after planting, and should be watered about 14 days in January, increasing to every 10 days in February through April, and then 5 to 7 days from July through October. As the tree ages, the depth of watering should increase up to 36 inches by the time it has been in the ground 4 years. Hope this info helps! |
