The Q&A Archives: Source For Staghorn Sumac

Question: I would like to acquire some Staghorn Sumac for wildlife habitat improvement but I have not been able to find a source for root stock or seeds. Can you help?

Answer: I always loved staghorn sumac in the fall, but alas it doesn't grow where I now live. A plant source database search for Rhus typhina came up with the following. You will need to check with them directly for current availability.

Forest Farm, OR
Greer Gardens, OR
Out Back Nursery, MN
McKay Nursery, WI
Sheffields Seeds, NY (listed as a seed supplier)
