Dwarf mirror plant - what is the history of this plant, growing habits and how to care for it? |
Coprosma repens is commonly called the mirror plant. It's native to New Zealand and grows to a rangey 10' tall and 6' wide under ideal conditions. Prune twice each year to keep it compact and attractive. Dwarf varieties will grow only 2-3 feet tall. The leaves are oval to oblong, 3" long and 1 1/2" wide, dark to light green, and almost unbelievably shiny and glossy. Plants produce yellow or orange fruits. There are variegated forms with green leaves flecked silvery white or creamy white leaves irregularly splashed and dotted with green. Provide full sun or partial afternoon shade, and little water. |
