I have not seen any growth since we first planted our Jack Fogg. It is in partial sun and blooms okay each year, but it hasn't grown an inch. What could be wrong? I live in the South San Francisco area, near the coast.

Michelia can be slow to establish and slow to grow. Since your tree is blooming on schedule, I'd say it's healthy and the slow growth rate is nothing to be concerned about. Your tree needs to be watered regularly, especially during the spring and summer months. Try changing your watering schedule to provide about one-inch of water per week to the roots under the canopy of your tree. This should help provide adequate moisture for it to thrive. Best wishes with your Michelia!
