The Q&A Archives: Pruning Liriope

Question: It has been a very mild winter in south central KY. My liriope is still green with some brown on the tips. Do I still need to cut it back to the ground as I normally do?

Answer: The brown tips will not regrow, so you may want to give it a light trim to remove those, although it is not strictly necessary because the new growth will eventually conceal them. If it is easier to cut the whole plant back (eg with a lawn mower) that will not hurt it.
