What is a good shade plant that will look good as well as provide much needed privacy? Oh yes, one that doesn't take a lifetime to develop. |
Beverly, There are a few shrubs that will grow to an adequate height and are evergreen and survive in shade in your area. However in a really shaded location such plants will be rather sparsely foliated and as such may not form a totally dense privacy hedge. If you can place them where they will receive fairly good light intensity they should do fine. Some evergreen shrubs to consider for a semi shaded spot include: yaupon, southern wax myrtle, and various types of viburnum. Chinese photinia, a more disease resistant and vigorous cousin of red tip photinia, is another choice. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
