We recently moved from the Chicago suburbs and purchased a new home in Santa Rosa, CA. Our back yard has a lot of semi-shaded areas under pine trees. We really enjoyed the Astilbes in our perennial garden in Chicago. Many of the garden catalogs rate Astilbes for Zones 4-8. How do you think Astilbes will perform in Santa Rosa which is Zone 9? |
Astilbes will thrive in your California garden. Provide full to partial shade and moist, rich soil. Plan to divide the clumps every 4 or 5 years. Enjoy! |
