The Q&A Archives: Pruning Japanese Skimmia

Question: How do I prune back and what time of year do I prune my Skimmia. Should I prune back the feeders?

Answer: Skimmia japonica is a slow grower to 5' tall and 6' wide. It blooms in spring and can be trimmed back immediately after blooming. If you have unusually long growth on one part of the shrub(I'm assuming that's what you mean by "feeders"), you can trim them back so they're even with the rest of the shrub.
