When is the best time to prune MAIDEN GRASS in northeastern ohio, and to what height? |
Maiden grass and other perennial hardy ornamental grasses can be trimmed back any time between late fall and early spring. You should try to have them cut back by the time the daffodils bloom as a rule of thumb, because that is about the time they start to grow again and you want to avoid damaging the new incoming growth when you trim away the old parts. Cut it off as short as you can, usually somewhere between about four to six inches from the ground but anything less than a foot or so is fine. |
