Some flowering annuals and perennials for shady areas include Acanthus (Bear's Breech), Aconite, Alchemilla (Lady's Mantle), Anemone (windflower), Asarum (wild ginger), Astilbe, Begonia, Bergenia, Caladium, Coleus, cyclamen, Gentiana, Galium (sweet woodruff), Lamium (dead nettle), Impatiens, Lobelia, Senico, Vinca, and Viola (pansies). With the above suggestions, you'll have a colorful shady border in no time at all!
