| The difference in the thickness of citrus skins can be due to variety (some are naturally thicker than others), can be caused by environmental stress during fruit development, or can be the result of insect activity. If you've ruled out insect invasions and poor cultural conditions, especially fluctuating soil moisture during fruit development, I'd venture that your citrus trees are different cultivars than those producing fruit for the grocery stores. |
