There are many trees that make good colorful trees, so your choice might be limited by the soil type and soil moisture, the amount of sunshine in the location and also the amount of wind. Many of the named varieties of red maple (Acer rubrum) show excellent fall color and are fairly adaptable as to growing conditions. Make sure though that you really do have enough room for their mature size. A knowledgeable nursery person and/or your county extension might also have some suggestions based on the actual growing conditions and microclimate of the location. A tree lives for a long time so it is worth putting some thought into the decision so it's good to plan carefully.
