I have little black gnats that live in the soil of some of my houseplants... how can I get rid of them? I prefer not to use chemicals if possible. |
Gosh I hate those things - so very annoying! Worse than annoying, they can damage your plants. You may be able to keep the critters under control with careful watering--allowing the soil surface to dry out between waterings often deters them. Try this first before resorting to sprays. There is an effective chemical application product called Gnattrol. It kills the gnats that lay eggs in your soil. Gnattrol is available in stores such as Lowes, Home Depot, and at garden centers of places like KMart or WalMart. On the radical side, I do have a friend who has two pet tarantulas who live in her greenhouse....she doesn't seem to have a gnat problem at all! |
