I'm trying to find a picture and/or info about a purple leaf acacia (purpurea) but can't seem to find anything on the web. Can you help? |
Acacia baileyana purpurea, the Purple-leaf Acacia is an evergreen tree with a dense canopy. Mature size is 20-35' high with a spread of about 30'. The foliage is blue-gray, feather-like and 1"-3" long. The tree bears bright yellow, fragrant flower clusters, from January-March. Brown, 4" seed pods develop in late summer. Smooth, light gray bark. Acacia tolerates drought, sandy and rocky soils and air pollution. It grows best in full sunshine. It's one of the first trees to bloom each year and yellow flowers are striking against early spring foliage. Here's a website with a picture: http://www.angelfire.com/wa/ma... |
