There are numerous vines that will flower nicely in a sunny location. Clematis is a traditional favorite, especially for a limited space. Trumpet creeper (Campsis radicans) and wisteria are both large vines that prefer sun, they both need very sturdy supports. The red flowered honeysuckles are also sun lovers and will grow on a trellis. Annual vines for a trellis would include morning glory, moonflower, purple hyacinth bean and cardinal creeper. Tropicals such as bougainvillea and mandevilla are also nice plants for a summer display although they will either need to be wintered inside or discarded at the end of the season. I hope this gives you some ideas.
