First of all, start with seeds that have not been treated with fungicides. (Many mail-order seed companies treat their seeds.) Sprinkle about 2 tablespoons of seed into the bottom of a canning jar and cover them with warm water. Cover the top of the jar with a piece of clean cheesecloth or a stocking and secure with a rubber band around the rim of the jar. Soak the seeds overnight. The next morning, drain the water and rinse the seeds with cool water. Keep the jar in indirect sunlight and repeat the rinsing 2-3 times daily. In about 3 days, your seeds should begin sprouting. Keep them in the refrigerator once they've sprouted and use within a few days.
