Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) is very easy to grow in average or better soil; it requires full sun; avoid a wet location. These plants can grow to quite a large size (8 to 12 feet tall and about two thirds that wide) but may be trimmed if needed in late winter. They bloom on the current season's growth so do not prune in spring or summer or you will be cutting off the flower buds. Lastly, they leaf out very late in the spring so you may want to take that into consideration when deciding where to plant.
