| I bought two 5 gallon Golden Bamboo from a local nursery last Spring. It is somewhat yellowish looking and is showing no new growth since I planted it last Spring. I have used a grass fertilizer periodically and I would like to know what else I can do. |
| Bamboo grows best in full sun to part afternoon shade, in average soil, with little water. Golden bamboo (Phyllostachys aurea) is a running bamboo so it's a good choice for growing in tubs, unless you have lots of room for the roots to roam. It likes soil on the dry side, but will tolerate more water as long as the soil drains quickly. Sometimes it takes plants a little while to become established after being transplanted. As long as your bamboo is getting adequate sunshine and is watered periodically, it should take off and grow for you this summer. It's a beautiful plant so your wait will be well rewarded. |
