How can I keep my dogs out of my flower beds? and if I can't keep them out, what are the best shade plants that will withstand dogs (and kids) tromping around. thanks.

Perhaps a small fence will help you train your dogs to stay out of the flower beds. If not, some of the plants most likely to recover from kids and animals romping in the beds include Astilbe, Iris, Ferns, Lamium, Pachysandra, Tradescantia, Vinca and Francoa.
