| The upper branches have yellow leaves with green veins, and not too many of them. New growth on the lower part of the tree are much greener. It still produces a good amount of fruit, though.. Should I cut it back? Thanks for your time! |
| As long as the new growth is healthy, you can safely prune your tree to remove the older, sickly growth. Try not to remove more than one-third of the live plant material in any one year or you'll throw your tree into shock. So, if there's lots of wood that needs to come off, plan to do it in 2-3 year period rather than all at once. Citrus trees are heavy feeders so be sure to fertilize with a food made especially for citrus (apply as much and as often as is recommended on the fertilizer label). Yellow leaves with dark green veins is a sign of chlorosis - lack of iron. Find a fertilizer that has iron in it and it may help green up those leaves. Good luck with your tree. |
