Our Tachoma Stands died this last winter. We think it was due to the number of cold (below 32 degrees) we had. What other flowering tree could you recommend that doesn't grow over 12-15 feet. The tree will be planted within 10-12' of our house.

Chionanthus, the fringe tree, is a lovely spring bloomer. Chilopsis, Cercis (redbud), Chorisia speciosa (floss silk tree) and Franklinia alatamaha are also good choices. Erythrina (coral tree), Lagerstroemia (crape myrtle) and flowering crabapple are other good picks. Each blooms in spring, has a compact growth habit, and very few bad habits, making them good choices for planting near homes.
