The Q&A Archives: Bradford Pear (pyrus Calleryana) Thorns Or Not?????

Question: My friend has a tree that looks like a Bradford Pear but has thorns on the branches is that possible?

Answer: It could not be a Bradford Pear (Pyrus calleryana "Bradford") because it is thornless. There are other similar varieties of ornamental pear with thorns, however.
