What would be the best planting site, and how large will this shrub get? |
This witchhazel (Hamamelis x intermedia "Arnolds Promise") can ultimately reach about 20 feet tall and wide, however it is a slow grower. Witchhazels require an acid, humusy soil that is evenly moist yet well drained. They also need partial to full sun and do best in a location sheltered from the wind. In a sheltered location blooms will be the earliest possible, too. My personal preference is to plant it somewhere that I will notice the flowers just as soon as they open -- they are so welcome in the early spring. |
