Are "bloodgood japense maple tree" the same as "japense maple"?

There are many different kinds of Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum) and yes, "Bloodgood" is one of them. They are distinguished by such characteristics as bark color and texture, leaf size, shape, or coloring, and overall shape, size and growth habit.
