Today, at Bonfonte Gardens, I bought a ROYAL STANDARD PLAINTAN LILY. There were no growing instructions with the plant. Also I could not find any growing help here on your website.

Can you help me?

Thanks in advance!

Bill

Your plantain lily is more commonly known as hosta. Hosta 'Royal Standard' is a hybrid, favored for its sweetly scented lily-like white flowers. Your plant has rich green, heart shaped leaves, and will grow best in full to partial shade. Hostas prefer slightly acidic, rich, moist soil. Adding peat moss to the garden bed will make your hosta very happy. Expect your hosta to grow into a clump of about 3' wide, with foliage about 2' high. Slugs and snails especially like hostas so place a few traps in the bed, just in case. Good luck with your new hosta!
