I am looking for a fast growing shrub, that will make a good privacy hedge. I live in central Arkansas, and I'm not sure what will grow here.Any suggestions?

For a sunny location you might look into the traditional hedge plant, privet, which takes clipping well. You might also like Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) which blooms in the summer. Forsythia is another possibility for an informal fast growing hedge, it blooms in the spring. For a quick growing evergreen, you might try an evergreen Euonymous such as "Manhattan" which can be clipped if desired and will tolerate both sun and some shade. Your local nursery personnel and county extension may have some additional suggestions based on the specific growing conditions in your yard.
