I recently bought this plant and have not planted it in the yard yet becuse I want to get it in the exact right location. When I put it ouside it wilted immediately and has to be watered at least every 2 days or it completely wilts. It is losing alot of the under leaves . Love the plant but can't figure out what is wrong with it and the best place to plant it. It does not seem to like full sun. Would it do best in a semi shady location with my ferns? |
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Pink Elf' is a miniature French hydrangea, growing best in rich, moist soils, in semi-shady areas. It would be happy planted near ferns, as long as the sunlight is filtered and there is definite afternoon shade. Allow your plant to recover from the stress of being exposed to full sunshine before you put it in the ground. Try placing the plant, still in its container, outdoors next to the ferns. Water the soil when it begins to dry out, and wait a few weeks - until the plant looks healthy - before transplanting it into the ground. After this TLC it should establish quickly and grow vigorously for you. |
