The Q&A Archives: Peonies

Question: Can peonies be grown in our zone? I find them beautiful! I used to grow them on the east coast.

Answer: In order to bloom well, herbaceous peonies need to experience a prolonged period of winter chill - something that your growing zone cannot provide. Tree peonies require less winter chill than herbaceous peonies and may be successful in your area.
