The Q&A Archives: No Bloomin' Lillies

Question: How do I encourage my Stella de Ora lillies to continue to bloom throughout the summer?

Answer: These daylilies will repeat flushes of bloom if they are watered enough to keep the soil evenly moist and if the soil fertility is high enough to keep them actively growing. They should also be deadheaded, meaning remove the spent blooms, regularly. Finally, the plants are most vigorous if divided more often than typical daylilies, even as often as every other year. It goes without saying they do best with lots of sunshine as well.
