| What is Cissus vine and how do I care for it? |
| Cissus rhombifolia is also known as grape ivy and is a common houseplant. It is a lovely hanging vine with a graceful, arching and trailing habit. It's cousin the Kangaroo ivy is called Cissus antarctica and is as graceful, but the leaves are larger. They will grow in very low light and be quite beautiful. Knowing it will do very well with little light, the next most important thing is not to over-water it. Wait until it needs to be watered--you can even wait for it to wilt ever so slightly before watering. As far as fertilizing is concerned-do it during the greatest growing seasons. Generally that will be spring through summer. I'd start fertilizing in March and keep doing it through August. As to how much, use LESS than the recommended amount. Generally the suggested amount is a bit heavy handed, especially if the plant is growing in low-light conditions. |
