Need to know information about this shrub Chamaecyparis Obtusa/Verdoni Hinoki Cypress *mature height and growth rate *best planting area any information about this plant would be greatly appreciated. |
Chamaecyparis obtusa or Hinoki Falsecypress as a species prefer an evenly moist yet well-drained soil in a sunny location protected from wind both winter and summer; a sheltered morning sun location is quite good because they really prefer a cooler summer climate. The dwarf varieties such as this one as a group are very slow growers, just a few inches a year. Verdoni is said to be a dwarf upright golden foliaged type that grows a bit faster and is also more sun resistant (meaning it should not burn in full sun) than the similar-looking but extremely slow growing Nana Lutea. Look for Verdoni to grow three to six inches a year and ultimately reach about eight feet in height (maybe three to five in ten years) with a narrow pyramidal shape. |
