The Q&A Archives: Yellowing Leaves On Bleeding Heart

Question: The bleeding heart plant is turning yellow?

Answer: Old fashioned bleeding heart or Dicentra spectabilis normally goes dormant and dies back and disappears at some point during the summer. I think this is what you are probably seeing in mid to late July. It should re-emerge bigger and better than ever next spring, so you may want to mark the spot where it is growing so that you do not accidentally plant something else on top of it in the meantime.
