We're searching for the Ebony Magic Holly, but haven't been able to find it in our area this season. We want something that has dark, shiny leaves, bright red berries in fall/winter, and grows to not much more than 8-12 feet high x 3-4 wide (or can be trimmed to such) . . . it's for a corner anchor/accent along the front of our house. Could you recommend any alternates to the Ebony Magic that might fit this description? Thank you! S. R. Welch |
You might like the Dragon Lady holly, it is quite similar. If your local nurseries do not have these hollies in stock in mid-summer you might ask if they could special order them or if they will have them as a matter of course this fall or even next spring when the selection is usually the broadest. Broad leafed evergreens are best planted in the spring to minimize transplant shock anyway. |
