Mimosas (Albizia julibrissin) naturally grow tall and lanky when they are young, this is their characteristic growth pattern. With age they tend to spread out a bit and become wider and flat topped and also consequently look denser. In my experience pruning does not accelerate the process, the trees do it on their own -- so we just have to be patient.
