I have recently purchased a flat of grass I think is called "Links" (sp?). I would like to find out if it is a suitable lawn for the area, and can it be started from seed?

New varieties of turfgrass are being developed all the time. If you purchased the plants locally, you can expect that they'll grow in your area - nurseries have reputations to uphold!

Just like most flowering plants, grasses develop seedheads. If you don't mow the grass, you'll see it flower and set seed. Sometimes this happens accidentally and grass appears where it was never planted. Birds and wind can transport seeds, too.

Here's a great site to visit, sponsored by the University of Hawaii. Go to the Cooperative Extension link and you'll find lots of information about growing landscape plants and turfgrass: http://agress.sherman.hawaii.e...
