Corn gluten is a pre-emergent herbicide. It effectively stops weed seeds from germinating, but will not kill established weeds. When applied to a weed-free lawn, it will keep new weed seeds from germinating. It is available from most nursery outlets and the garden centers of most large chain stores. Look for it under the names WOW (WithOut Weeds) and Organic Weed Stopper. The product is safe to use on any established lawn. Be sure to apply according to label directions.
