I planted a Monrovia "Oklahoma Redbut" a couple of months ago. It isn't growing. A few leaves, close to the trunk, have yellowed and fallen off. No new leaves are growing. And, most of the other leaves are starting to curl. Please let me know what the problems might be and how to care for my expensive new tree. Thank you.

Cercis, the redbud, grows best in full sun to light afternoon shade, is drought-tolerant once established, and provides a profusion of early spring bloom. Your tree may be struggling to become established, and showing that stress with yellowing or curling leaves. There's not much you can do to hurry the process, other than water regularly and be patient. Be sure to water your new tree on a weekly basis, applying water slowly so it seeps into the soil to wet the entire root mass. Give your new tree several more weeks to become established and it should perk up and look lovely. Best wishes!
