I am going to buy a Chinese Wisteria. I want it to be a grafted wisteria, rather than from seed. Does Monrovia graft it's wisteria, or start them from seed? Most likely I will get my Wisteria from a local nursery. If I know that it is grafted, I will make sure it comes from Monrovia. Thanks! Brenda. |
I understand your concern about wisteria grown from seed - they can take a decade before they're mature enough to flower! Either grafted or cutting-grown plants will skip this non-blooming juvenile stage. For best performance, choose Wisteria floribunda 'Issai Perfect' (White Japanese Wisteria), Wisteria floribunda 'Rosea' (Pink Japanese Wisteria), or Wisteria floribunda 'Texas Purple'. All are cutting grown. Monrovia's Chinese Wisteria (Wisteria sinensis) is grown from seed. Best wishes with your new wisteria! |
