I am creating a garden from scratch and am trying to plan my priorities for my fall planting and my spring planting. When is the best time to plant: 1. Nikko Blue Hydrangea 2. Shishi Gashira Camellia 3. Miss Kim Korean Lilac 4. Acoma Crape Myrtle Thank you so much for your assistance. |
In my experience, they are all best planted in the spring with the exception of the lilac which could be planted at either time. This assumes they are all container grown. Bare root plants are only available in the spring. Also, I should mention that the camellia is only hardy to a winter low temperature of about 0 to 10 degrees, or zone 7. You should try to locate it in a very sheltered location for the best results. Best of luck with your new garden. |
