The Q&A Archives: Brown Patches On Lawn (dog)

Question: Hi, I hope you can help. My dog's urine is killing my grass. The lawn is around 27 square metres Is there a type of grass I could use which is hardier to this kind of abuse, or do I need to bite the bullet and build in a paved area?

Answer: One relatively simple solution to the problem is to rinse the grass with plain water to dilute the urine, immediately is best but within an hour or two can also help. I don't know if this would be an option for you, but it is something to consider. Otherwise, unfortunately I am not aware of a lawn grass that will not spot. Many dogs can however be trained to use a specific area only, thus preserving the rest of the lawn.
