Can fountain grass survive the winters in zone 5?

There are different types of grass commonly called fountain grass. Pennisetum alopecuroides, probably the most common one, is hardy into USDA winter hardiness zone 5. Most of them will be hardy for you with the exception of the purple fountain grass, Pennisetum setaceum 'Rubrum' will not survive a cold winter.
