Yipes, frost for tonight. I picked green tomatoes. Is there a way to ripen them in the house? Thanks

You can try to ripen them if they have already begun to color a little bit. Rinse them clean in water with a bit of bleach added, air dry completely, then wrap in clean newspaper. Store at cool room temperature. Unwrap periodically to make sure there is no rot or mold developing. They should continue to ripen but slowly. The flavor is never quite as good as vine ripened, sadly. You might look into green tomato chutney and pickle recipes.
