To maintain the topiary form or pompon shape, trim lightly and often, as soon as you see the shape beginning to lose its crispness. Fertilizing would be minimal, this plant does well in average soil. An annual top dressing of compost and/or possibly an application of a complete granular fertilizer such as 10-10-10 in early spring per the label instructions should be sufficient. You would not want to overfeed it in any case as this would make it grow faster and make trimming necessary even more often.

How do you support the pompoms to maintain the shape? Mine are starting to droop and overlap each other. Is there somewhere that sells posts for this purpose?
