I'd like to plant a flowering cherry tree. I live in Los Angeles, specifically the San Fernando Valley (where it can get hot!). Which cultivar of cherry trees can I grow? |
Prunus 'Okame' will perform best in your gardening region. It can take the heat and still thrive. 'Okame' has an upright, oval habit with fine-textured dark-green foliage. The flowers are carmine pink and open very early in the season. As an added bonus, the leaves provide a yellow-orange to orange-red display of color in the fall. |
