Hi
I have some purple fountain grass plants. I would like to know if they need to cut back? If so, when and how much should be trimmed off? I don't want to ruin them as you can imagine.

Thank You
Richard Lawrence

Most gardeners allow the foliage to remain on ornamental grasses, to add interest to the winter garden. If you find the dead blades to be unsightly at the end of the summer season, you can cut them down to ground level. In the spring new leaves will emerge from the roots of the plant. If you decide to leave the foliage alone this winter, you can cut it off at ground level next spring.
