In Portland Oregon area, what would be a Fast Growing Evergreen landscaping tree for Privacy? Since the lot in the area are pretty small (0.2 acre), large evergreen trees such as Leyland Cypress may not be good choice. Do you know any fast growing evergreen trees with mature size below 30 ft tall and 12 ft wide? Thanks. - Steven.

Some of the smaller evergreen trees include Acacia, Arbutus unedo (strawberry tree), Prunus caroliniana (Carolina laurel cherry) and Pinus contorta (Shore Pine). Of these, the laurel cherry will grow the fastest. You might also want to consider evergreen shrubs for privacy. Some good choices for your gardening region include Escalloia, Leptospermum, Ligustrum, Nandina, or Thuja (Arborvitae).
