I have a Tri-Color Society Garlic (zone 7-11) but I live in zone 5. Is there any way that I can keep this plant alive during our winter? Would removing it from the ground and bringing it indoors be of any help? |
Tulbaghia violacea 'Tricolor' is often grown as a container plant and can be brought indoors and kept in a cool and bright location for the winter. Take care not to overwater it while it is resting. If you planted it in the ground, you will need to dig it up, clean the soil off the tuberous roots, trim the foliage, then air dry them. Store in a cardboard box or paper bag with barely damp peat moss at about 45 degrees until planting time next spring. Check them periodically for mold (too cold or too wet) or shriveling (too warm or too dry). Good luck with your society garlic! |
